McCain Concedes, Congratulates Obama

Sen. McCain's graceful concession speech is a class act. His early words of congratulations, concession that the American people have spoken clearly, and recognition of the historic nature of the election are words that needed to be said, and he said them well.

The recognition of the historical nature of the election, the importance to African Americans and to the nation was well commented upon. Sen. McCain recognizes that we must put our history of racism behind us. He pledges to help Obama lead us, asks other supporters to help as well. Importantly, he refers to America as the "country we both love," hitting back against those who would argue that Obama is not a true and loyal American.

McCain interrupts crowd when some boo mentions of Barack Obama, says Obama "will be my president." An effective, graceful concession speech from Senator John McCain.
