Obama talks tough on Russia, warning that Russia needs to be pushed to behave properly. He discusses details regarding the region.
McCain leads with "Obama doesn't understand." (Will he use the phrase more often than Al Gore said "lockbox?")
He says that Russia is a KGB/security operation-controlled nation.
McCain renews support for NATO membership for Georgia and the Ukraine.
Obama says he and McCain generally agree on the issue of Russia. He supports the re-building of the Georgian economy, supporting the existing Georgian government.
Obama had spoken with the administration prior to the recent events in Georgia, about removing Russian peacekeepers from Georgia. Had action been taken on that situation, we may have been able to avoid the recent battle between Russia and Georgia.
We need energy independence to lesson the strength of nations such as Russia. McCain has opposed solar and other alternative fuels. Obama supports nuclear, if it is safe, and the waste can be handled safely.
